A little bit about me...

My passions in life range between a variety of things, but fashion designing is number one. It all started when I was about 14. My art teacher asked the class to design a new school uniform and I came up with the most un-practical uniform you had ever seen, but I had the caught the design bug! Since then, I took up hand crafts like embroidery and beading. Designing continued throughout my GCSE years, and A Level's which included Art & Design, Textiles, Photography, Ceramics, and Sculpture. In 2006, I started my first year in Fashion, studying a Foundation Degree. During the 2 year course I designed and made some garments, which utilise the pattern cutting and production skills required to prepare me for industry. In the 2nd year, my Spring/Summer collection featured 3 dresses, which had hand sewn delicate embroideries, and extensive beadwork. They were made from silks and crepes.

I completed my BA in fashion at Plymouth College of Art, gaining a 2:1 result. My collection was based on Sandro Botticelli's 'The Birth Of Venus' painting. I'd been developing my garments over the year, from designing, pattern cutting, 3d stand work, and manufacturing. Some fabric manipulation will feature like, high mass ruffles, and North American smocking. I have also included some hand knitting.

My graduate collection has been featured at Graduate Fashion Week on the Plymouth College of Art stand, and closed the show at the Plymouth College Degree fashion show 2009 - where I won the Best use of fabric award, and the Highly Commended student award. The collection has also been featured in a German film based on a novel by Rosamunde Pilcher, filmed at Manadon House in Plymouth.

I continually create new fashion designs, experimenting with garment shapes, and exploring different textile techniques.
